Dear Parents,

I am a mother of two daughters and was thoroughly searching for a suitable daycare in Zurich, yet none of them felt completely right. What I encountered during my search was often disappointing – either the daycare could not provide afternoon meals, the facilities did not feel welcoming, or the location was inconvenient. Overall, I noticed that many daycare centers in Zurich do not fully meet the needs of both children and parents at the same time.

Additionally, with my older daughter Sofie, I experienced how frequent staff turnover affected her and how much she suffered from the lack of consistent caregivers. For our second daughter, my wish was simply a safe and stable environment where she could build relationships with the caregivers. A bilingual daycare where I could be confident that the food is healthy, balanced, and organic, and not served on plastic plates. A childcare center where my daughter would be nurtured and above all, have fun. Essentially, a daycare that truly delivers on all the promises made to parents, because after all, it is about the most important thing in our lives – our children.

As fate would have it, the opportunity arose to take over the premises of an existing daycare. My husband and I spontaneously decided to open our own daycare, Kita Bärlis at Granitweg 6. Fortunately, we were able to bring together a wonderful team that shared our vision and values. We completely renovated the premises (using organic materials, of course), redesigned and furnished them to create a warm, inviting, and child-friendly atmosphere.

Due to high demand, we opened a second daycare center in the summer of 2018, located not far from Granitweg: Villa Bärlis at Eisernes Zeit 31 (opening on February 1, 2019). With this expansion, we were able to offer loving care to even more families in the city of Zurich and District 6.

The concept of Kita Bärlis ultimately brings together everything we considered best for our little Olivia. Your child is cared for at Kita Bärlis as if they were our own – which is why our motto is “Your Second Family.” We place great importance on children being individually supported in our daycare, both cognitively and emotionally, while ensuring they have fun, feel secure, and learn in a safe environment.

We are particularly proud of our bilingual daycare center, which introduces children to new languages through play and prepares them for the future. We also ensure a loving and consistent caregiving structure for infants and toddlers. The flexible options offered by our childcare services allow parents to optimally balance family and work. We know that many families are looking for a subsidized daycare spot in Zurich or want to learn more about daycare costs. That’s why we keep our prices fair and transparent, without compromising the quality of care.
